HISTORIC
CLAIM FOR THE RIGHT TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT THE
ARMENIAN GENOCIDE.

The Argentine Courts finally acknowledged the
claim for the RIGHT TO KNOW THE TRUTH ,
which was fostered by Gregorio Hairabedian
and triggered by the denial on the part of the
Turkish State of the criminal act that took place
in 1915 and 1923. It was due to this massacre
that Gregorio Hairabedian - of Argentine nationality,
son of Hovannes Hairabedian and of Luisa Barsamian
- lost his relatives on both his mothers
and fathers side who lived in Palú
and Zeitún respectively.
When it comes to applying the universal jurisdiction
principle outside the limits of the Argentine
territory in matters of crime investigation (as
it is the case of this atrocious murder), this
resolution can be considered originally new and
promising.
The present legal action does not seek revenge,
hatred or retaliation, instead, it seeks to fight
the impunity of such criminal calamity, which
agrees with the plaintiffs humanistic view.
